to being "extremely helpful in the treatment of dry mouth," Biotene
Toothpaste is also said to contain "active enzymes important for
maintaining healthy teeth and gums," to control odor-causing bacteria
and to prevent plaque build-up.
Frank's Comments: I used this
toothpaste exclusively for about a year after my radiation treatments.
Perhaps the biggest downsides are that it doesn't foam up like regular
toothpaste and it doesn't quite freshen your mouth like regular
toothpaste. On the plus side, it does help to reduce dry mouth. Still, I
don't use it as much as I used to because it's more expensive than
regular toothpaste and, since I always gargle with a dry mouth gargle
after I brush, I'm guessing that gargling would wash away any benefits.
Does that make sense to anyone?
